Community

Community is at the heart of everything we do at Tangmere Growers. Our allotments are more than a place to grow fruit and vegetables, they are a space where people come together, friendships are formed, knowledge is shared and everyone is welcome.

Since the land was gifted for agricultural use in 1972, the allotments have continued to grow into a vibrant and supportive community made up of people from many different backgrounds, cultures and generations. Whether someone is an experienced grower, completely new to gardening or simply looking for connection and support, there is a place for them here.

We believe community thrives when people work together, learn from one another and share experiences. Throughout the year we welcome local groups and organisations to the allotments, creating opportunities for education, wellbeing, and social connection. Scout groups visit to learn about biodiversity, wildlife, planting and sustainable food growing, while community initiatives and social prescribing programmes help provide a safe and positive outdoor environment for those needing support.

Our Community Page will celebrate the people, groups, and partnerships that make Tangmere Growers special. Here you will find information about:

  • Local social and hobby clubs
  • Scout and youth group activities
  • Community gardening projects
  • Wellbeing and support services
  • Dementia-friendly initiatives and support groups
  • Educational visits and workshops
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Seasonal community events and gatherings

We are proud to work alongside local organisations and individuals who share our vision of building a healthier, kinder, and more connected community through nature, gardening, and shared experiences.

At Tangmere Growers, community means growing together.
